Teamwire API 18 brings new features to your apps, like pinning or favouring chats, mentions and more.
Including a change, which may miscalculate the number of unread messages temporarily.
The "unread" app badge, which you normally see on your phone's home screen, will now show the number of unread chats (or conversations) instead of the total of all unread messages.
The logic and information of "unread chats" (or previously messages) are provided by the Teamwire Server (aka. the backend). As the upgrade to a new API is initially performed on the server while the apps are still running on the old API version, there may be some misunderstandings in the communication between the two parties.
Which means, that the number of unread chats on the app badge sometimes might not be accurate.
This primarily affects iOS and iPadOS, but can also affect Android devices, which do support the "counter" option for app badges.
This will be a temporary situation only. It will be completely resolved as soon as the new API 18 Teamwire apps are released, too, which are iOS App 5.0.0 and Android App 6.0.0. Their updates will be available in about one month in the App Store, Google Play Store and in our Teamwire Wiki.
Customers and partners, running Teamwire on-premise, should take this information into account before upgrading their server. We recommend rolling out both backend and client updates as close to each other as possible, but always make sure to install the backend release first!
The complete backend release notes will be available in the Teamwire Wiki.
